"The Little Merman" for Wind Orchestra

Programme Note:

Outside his father’s supervision, the Mer Prince Ariel watches curiously as human sailors as they work, hauling barrels of mead and sugarcane across the ocean.

 

One day, as Ariel visits his favorite inland cove, he starts to sing. Eric, a sailor, discovers the Mer Prince by the loveliness of his enchanting voice.

 

To the Mer King’s disapproval, Ariel seeks out Eric each week in the cove, and his song slowly starts to weave their hearts dangerously close together.
